Eastbay Shoes: A Review of Eastbay Sportswear and Shoes

Custom Search

Eastbay Shoes is one of the Internet’s biggest sportswear retailers. They can be found online at http://www.eastbay.com, where they sell clothes, gear and, most importantly, shoes.

But, how does Eastbay measure up in terms of prices and service? For a full review of the site and the purchasing process, keep reading.

Eastbay Customer Service

Eastbay offers customers a 1-800 number which is a plus, but they don’t have online, live chatting with customer service agents – a service I like to use. Also, their help features are set up like a basic FAQ and are definitely in need of an upgrade.

Another aspect of their customer service that could be improved is their policy on returns. Customers have to pay to ship their returns back. When competitors like Zappos are offering free shipping for returns, this could be a big mistake that could kill a retailer like Eastbay Shoes.

Eastbay Prices

The prices on Eastbay are pretty good and almost make their terrible return policy worth it. The site is a great place to gauge base prices or do some serious bargain hunting. They also have a number of ongoing sales, promotions and specials that are worth checking out.

For real deal-hunting, sign up for their email newsletter – you get access to some pretty serious exclusive deals and savings.

Eastbay Pick Your Price Feature

This is a very cool feature on the Eastbay Shoes website that lets you pick your price point and then the site will show you the shoes that fit into your budget.

If you’re working on a limited budget, this is a great tool to help you track down bargains or find the best shoe to buy within your means. The Pick Your Price feature is unique, cool and makes the site worth visiting. It starts at $29.99.

Eastbay Brands and Stock

If you’re looking for major sports shoe brands, Eastbay has them. From Adidas to Timberland, they’re all here. If you want a volleyball or cheerleading specific shoe, you’ll find it here too.

Unlike traditional bricks and mortar stores, Eastbay shoes can stock a lot more inventory, meaning they offer a lot more choices. So, if you’re looking for a hard-to-find shoe, this is the store for you.

Eastbay Shipping and Delivery Charges

Their shipping charges are fairly standard and start at $7 for standard shipping on a single pair of shoes. The problem is with the return shipping – if the shoe doesn’t fit, you have to pay to ship it back and then pay again to have your new pair shipped to you.

For something as important as shoes, you want to be able to know you can at least try them on without having to pay $14 in extra shipping charges.

Eastbay The Final Word

Eastbay Shoes are great if you know what you’re looking for in terms of style and size. But, if you’ve got a hard-to-fit foot, you may want to stay away because the shipping charges on returns could really hurt your wallet.
