Shoe Style Tips :: Georgia Boots Georgia Boots: A Review of Georgia Sport and Trail Boots
Custom Search
Georgia Boots started making footwear in 1937 and their Sport and Trail Boots are one of their trademark models, but how do these boots measure up? When you’re hiking or working outdoors, nothing is worse than cold and wet feet. Whether you’re spending an afternoon on an ATV, hiking or working your property, you know you need a good pair of boots that are going to keep you dry and last a long time. For a full review of the Sport and Trail Georgia Boots, keep reading. Georgia Sport Boot Looks and Basics They’re a basic, 8-inch boot that come equipped with 600 grams of insulation, which is great for a cold day, but could be overkill on a summer afternoon. Overall, the leather is pliable and soft, meaning these boots break in easy and fast – a major plus for those of us who’ve had to endure days of blisters in an attempt to “break in” a new pair of boots. It takes about two to three wears for these bad boys to conform to your foot, which is great if you’re spending a lot of time in your boots. Practical Use of the Georgia Boots One of the biggest draws is the easy lace-up process. If you’re like me, you don’t want to spend your time lacing and unlacing boots every time you go inside. The Georgia Sport and Trail Boots come with pull-through eyelets, easy hooks and secure steel washers that make lacing up fast. For water protection, these boots are good up to about ankle-deep water. Personally, I’d prefer a little more protection, but the extra-long tongue helps to keep water out and your socks dry. If you’re using these for basic land work or hiking, they should be fine. Quality of the Boot Georgia Boots say the plush leather on these puppies is a selling point, but I think it’s a drawback. Because the leather is so soft, the boots are really susceptible to scratches. Keeping the boots' factory appearance is going to be tough if you’re traversing alder and scraping over concrete while wrenching on ATVs at the shop. Price of the Boot The Georgia Sport and Trail Boots typically retail for around $149, a pretty reasonable price considering the quality and the brand. It’s about what you’d expect to pay and you can often them find cheaper if you’re willing to wait for a sale. The Final Word I'd recommend this pair of Georgia Boots for what they are meant for – riding your ATV or hiking on relatively dry ground. They’re great for everyday use, but don’t expect them to hold up in shin-deep water or stay looking factory-fresh forever. See also: All Site Articles for Shoe Style Tips
