Brands Carried at Journeys Kids
Journeys for Kids sells mostly contemporary mid-level brands targeted at parents and kids buying for the premium outlet set. Think Sperry, Polo, Tween Ugg, Timberland, DC Shoes and even Coach Kids – your major, mass-market brand names.
Their prices range from about $20 to $70 per pair for children’s shoes, depending on the sizing, brand name and style.
Return Policy at Journeys Kids
Journey shoes will accept any returns within 30 days of purchase as long as the shoes are unworn outside and returned in their original packaging along with the original receipt.
It may seem like a fair return policy, but there are some major problems. First, Journeys for Kids does not refund shipping charges and expects customers to pay return shipping charges on returns (exchanges are exempt from having to pay return shipping charges).
In addition to not refunding shipping costs, Journeys takes “4-6 weeks” to process returns or exchanges according to their website and doesn’t allow parents to return items bought off the website to their storefront locations.
When a website that can ship a pair of shoes in less than 12 hours takes 4-6 weeks to process a return, that is unacceptable.
Journey Kids’ Shipping
Journeys for Kids will ship to anywhere in the United States (they do not ship internationally). Purchases over $99.01 are free and they charge $8.95 for items up to $50 and $7.95 for orders between $50 and $99.
This is fine, but expect their shipping to take an astonishing 7-10 days via UPS Ground.
While Journeys for Kids may be able to offer some exciting or different brand names, the company simply isn’t competing with other online retailers like Zappos, ShoeBuy or even Amazon when it comes to fast and affordable shipping.
Journeys’ Promotions
Journeys Kids does offer its popular Birthday Club. Every year, enrolled kids get a birthday card from Journeys in the mail, inviting them to Journeys for a special birthday offer. The offer varies from year to year, but it’s typically a 15-20% off coupon.
The Final Word on Journeys
Overall, Journeys for Kids carries a lot of the brands that Tweens want, but customers are better off buying from the bricks-and-mortar store locations instead of the website. The return and shipping policies are too weak to be competitive or worthwhile.
